Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer football team picked up a much needed victory over the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets, 43-26, on Homecoming at Morris Stadium.

Glenville State (4-4, 4-3) would get off to a ruff start as they fumbled the opening kickoff as West Virginia State recovered. However the Pioneers defense would come up big as the Yellow Jackets missed a 30 yard field goal attempt at the 13:27 minute mark.

The Pioneers next possession would end in another turnover as Austin Ratliff fumbled the end around with the Yellow Jackets again recovering the ball. This time West Virginia State would convert the turnover into points as they scored on a two yard run to take a, 7-0 lead with 8:22 to play in the first quarter.

Glenville State would finally find the endzone at the 1:02 minute mark of the first quarter as Dominique Gibson scored from four yards out tying the game at, 7-7.

West Virginia State would answer late in the second as Matt Kinnick hit Quinton Gray from nine yards out as they went up, 13-7. GSC blocked the PAT. Glenville State would then put together a great drive as they drove 83 yards on seven plays in just 1:02 as they took their first lead of the game as Dante Roberts hit DJ Williams on a 34 yard touchdown pass, 14-13 as GSC headed into halftime up one.

In the second half the GSC defense would get a big stop as the Pioneer offense took over. Glenville State then drove 70 yards on 15 plays as Dante Roberts hit Austin Ratliff from three yards out as GSC went up, 21-13 with 7:00 minutes to play in the third.

West Virginia State would answer back at the 4:13 minute mark as they made it, 21-19. After that score by the Yellow Jackets it would be all Pioneers as they ended up outscoring the Yellow Jackets 29-13 in the third and fourth quarters as they went on to pickup the, 43-26 victory.

Dante Roberts went 28-of-38 for 281 yards and four touchdowns. Dante Absher led the Pioneers receivers with eight catches for 91 yards. DJ Williams caught four passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns while Austin Ratliff also caught four passes for 23 yards and a touchdown.

Dominique Gibson had 95 yards rushing to go along with his two touchdowns.

Earon Settles led the GSC defense with seven tackles and an interception. Rashaun Searles also had seven tackles to go along with a sack and a tackle for loss.

Matt Kinnick led West Virginia State as he passed for 336 yards and two touchdowns. Kinnick, also led the rushing attack for the Yellow Jackets with 52 yards. For West Virginia State's defense Dennis Gardeck had a game high 19 tackles.

Glenville State will hit the road next Saturday, October 29^th as they travel to Athens, West Virginia for a noon kickoff with the Concord University Mountain Lions.
