Glenville State University Marching Band
The Glenville State University Pioneer Marching Band is a source of pride to the University, the public, and to all who have been involved with the program. Their goal is simply to be the finest musical organization possible. The band operates on pride and self-discipline. This group is motivated by these ideals and the members have a strong loyalty to their band and to each other. They share the values of excellence and responsibility for presenting their best to the Glenville State University community.
Membership is open to any student who has the drive and desire to participate in this exciting college experience.
The band has received state recognition as the featured exhibition band at the 2010 West Virginia Tournament of the Bands Chapter Finals, the 2008 Mountain State Forest Festival, and the 2008 Black Walnut Festival. The band was also featured at the 2006 Music of the Mountains Tournament of Bands Competition, the 2007 Ritchie County USSBA Competition, and the annual Buckwheat Festival Parade.
Their drumline has been featured at many events as well, including the West Virginia Drumline Invitational, the Black Walnut Festival, and the Nicholas County Band Spectacular. The Marching Band was featured at the 2009 Lewis County Marching Band Competition, the West Virginia State Renaissance Festival, and the Gassaway Christmas Parade.
