Glenville, W.Va. - The Glenville State Pioneer football team returns home to Morris Stadium this Saturday, September 17th as they host the University of Charleston at 1:00 p.m. Since 2005 Glenville State holds a 6-5 advantage in the series over the University of Charleston. The home team has won the matchup the last five times. Â
For the second straight year in a row the Pioneers have started 2-0, (2-0).
 The Pioneers come into the matchup after picking up a big road win over West Virginia Wesleyan, 31-28. The Golden Eagles are coming into the game 0-2, (0-2) after falling to Notre Dame in week one and falling at home in week two to #4 Shepherd University, 38-22.Â
Dante Roberts has threw for 599 yards on the season completing 72% of his passes and seven touchdowns. He also has a rushing touchdown on the year. Wideout
Dante Absher has gotten off to another strong start as he has hauled in 13 passes for 165 yards and four touchdowns. The four receiving touchdowns ranks him 14th in NCAA DII.
DJ Williams has also been a great surprise at wide receiver as he has caught 14 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns.Â
The rushing attack for GSC has been by committee as
Dominique Gibson leads the team with 171 yards on 29 carries while
Eric Kyle has rushed for 122 yards and
Thomas Boles III has 76 rushing yards and a touchdown.Â
Marcus Umu is the leading tackler for the Pioneers with 10 on the season and a TFL while GSC has four other players with eight tackles on the season. The GSC defense also has six takeaways on the season. Â
Quarterback Mason Olszewski leads the UC offense as he has completed 27-of-his-47 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns. He also has rushed the ball 19 time for 81 yards. Joey Austin is the Golden Eagles leading receiver as he has caught 12 balls for 147 yards and a touchdown while Marvin Elam leads the ground attack rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown.Â
The Golden Eagles defense is led by Jalen Nelson with 21 total tackles, with 5.5 TFL's and three sacks. Â
Last week GSC's offense amounted 499 total yards, with 296 through the air and 203 on the ground against West Virginia Wesleyan. The Golden Eagles defense last week only allowed #4 Shepherd's offense to gain 330 total yards while UC's offense gained 325 total yards. Â
Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Morris Stadium between the Pioneers and Golden Eagles.
