Glenville, W.Va. - The Glenville State Pioneer football team hosts the Falcons of Notre Dame College this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at I.L. & Sue Morris Stadium. GSC enters Saturday's contest after suffering their first loss of the 2016.
Glenville State will look to bounce back this week after falling at UVa-Wise last Saturday, 26-17. The Pioneers offense only managed a season low 304 yards and scored just 17 points. Prior to the game GSC had been scoring an average of 36.7 points per game.

The Pioneers had trouble finding their running attack as they only rushed for 47 yards on 24 attempts. One of the Pioneers scores came on special teams, their first TD of the season, as
Giles Guy-Williams scored on a 61 yard punt return.
The GSC defense did however force two turnovers in the contest as they picked off Brycen Lee twice. The defense still ranks 1st in the MEC in Turnover Margin +10.
The Pioneers are 3-0 against Notre Dame since joining the MEC, with two wins coming on the road and one at home. In 2013 GSC defeated the Falcons 20-16, in 2014 the Pioneers won 41-38, and last season in 2015 GSC won 38-30. A total of just 15 points have separated the two teams in three match-ups.
The Pioneers have several players leading statistical categories in the MEC with
Nick Lopez leading the MEC in interceptions with 4,
DJ Williams's ranks 1st in Scoring with 7 TD receptions, and
Andre Dalton ranks 1st in Passes Defended with nine total on the season.
Notre Dame comes into the ballgame after suffering a loss to #4 Shepherd University, 38-17.
The Falcons offense managed just 257 total yards against the Rams defense with 52 yards coming on the ground and 205 in the air. However Notre Dame still has the #2 Total Offense in the MEC averaging 461.0 yards per game. While the Falcons QB Malik Grove ranks 1st in the MEC in Total Offense averaging 331.2 yards per game.
The Pioneers will look to have a more balanced offensive attack this week while the defense will look to cause more turnovers however having to deal with playmaker Malik Grove as well as wideouts Emmanuel Smith and Mitchell Shegos as the two have combined for 43 total completions for 551 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
Defensively for the Falcons Jake Chestnut leads the team in tackles with 31 on the season. The defense as a whole has 11 total sacks and two interceptions.
