Glenville W.Va– The Lady Pioneers had their win streak snapped at nine games as they fell to conference foe Wheeling Jesuit, 79-66.

The Lady Pioneers started off cold on Tuesday nights contest at Wheeling Jesuit as they took on the Lady Cardinals.  Wheeling Jesuit was able to get off to a 9-0 advantage nearly four minutes into the game.  

After a slow start shooting the ball in the first period, the Pioneers entered the second period of play trailing 19-8.  The Lady Pioneers and Lady Cardinals traded baskets throughout the second quarter as the Cardinals took a 34-23 lead into intermission.

In the first half, the Lady Pioneers shot 25 percent (9-of-36) from the field, as the Lady Cardinals shot 58 percent (15-of-26). The Lady Pioneers did not attempt a free throw in the first half, the Cardinals were 2-of-12.

The Lady Pioneers shooting struggled throughout the third quarter as they trailed 54-38. The shooting woes haunted the Lady Pioneers all game as they finished 35 percent (26-of-75) from the field. Erika Toney had team high 19 points, while Courtney Davis recorded a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Wheeling Jesuit's Jaana Motton had a game high with 22 points, and Monica Burns had 20.  The Cardinals shot 60 percent (30-50) for the contest. 

The Lady Pioneers forced 28 turnovers, and turned the ball over 20 times.

Glenville State is back in action on Saturday, January 14th as they play host to West Virginia State. The contest is slated for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
