Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneers won their ninth straight as they defeated the West Liberty Hilltoppers on Sunday afternoon 102-72 winning by 30 points.
Glenville State (12-1, 6-1) would get down early as the Hilltoppers jumped put to a six point lead 8-2 in the first quarter. However that would be West Liberty's largest lead as the Lady Pioneers would make a run and never trailed again in the game.
The GSC defense caused 29 turnovers and scored 37 points off of them. The Lady Pioneers also had a huge advantage on the inside as they outscored the Hilltoppers 65 to 17.
Erkia Toney led GSC with a season high 20 points and eight rebounds while
Paris McLeod scored 17 points and had five steals.
Kristin DesRocher was the only other Lady Pioneer in double figures as she scored 12 points.
Courtney Davis just missed a double-double as she scored eight points and grabbed a game high 13 rebounds, with 10 rebounds coming in the first half. Davis also had a season and career high in blocks with six in the game.
West Liberty (3-10, 2-5) was led by McKenna Shives with 19 points.
Glenville State will hit the road on Tuesday, January 10
th as they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the Cardinals.Â
