Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers fell on the road Saturday afternoon to the UVa-Wise Cavaliers as they dropped their sixth straight game.
Glenville State (8-12, 5-11) took an early lead in the ball game at the 14:32 minute mark 11-10 however the Cavaliers went on a 14-4 run as they built a nine point lead over GSC 24-15. GSC would cut that lead to single digits at halftime as they trailed by six 49-43.
In the second half GSC would start on a 7-2 run as they pulled within one, 51-50 with 17:52 to play.
However UVa-Wise would answer with a run of their own as they took a 68-57 lead halfway through the second half.
The Pioneers responded and cut it to three points 88-85 with 35 second left but the Cavaliers would hit their free-throws as they held on to the 90-85 victory.
Glenville State got a lift from their bench in the game as they outscored the Cavaliers bench 26 to 15.
The Pioneers had two players score 20 points in the game in
Terry Davis Jr. as he also grabbed eight rebounds and
Jalon Plummer also had 20 points off the bench.Â
Brett Morris chipped in with a double-double, his eighth of the year, as he scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Brooks Ely also scored double digits for GSC as he had 10 points.
UVa-Wise (6-16, 4-12) had five players in double figures led by Dimitri Sousa as he had a game-high 22 points.
Glenville State hits the road on Thursday, February 9
th as they travel to West Virginia State University  for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
