Men’s Basketball to Participate in Suits and Sneakers Week

Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State Head Men's Basketball Coach Stephen Dye is pleased to announce that he and his staff along with Concord University's basketball staff will be supporting Suits and Sneakers at Wednesday night's basketball game.

Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers week, which runs from January 22 through 28, is a nationwide event when basketball coaches across the country unite for a common cause – saving lives from cancer!

Coaches and their staff across the nation wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness and help save lives from cancer by raising funds and encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.

Both staffs will participate this Wednesday, January 24th when the Pioneers host the Mountain Lions at 7:30 p.m. from inside the Waco Center.

"We want to help bring awareness to anyone fighting cancer, anyone who has lost someone to cancer, and anyone who has been affected by this terrible disease," stated Head GSC Coach Stephen Dye.

The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. This initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Since 1993, coaches have raised over $100 million for the American Cancer Society.

Formed in 1998, the Coaches vs. Cancer Council includes many of the best-known and most successful men's basketball coaches nationwide. Over the years, the council has helped guide, enhance, and expand the program.
