Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer soccer team recorded five shots in a 4-0 loss to the Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons on Senior Day.
Glenville State (0-18-0, 0-14-0) finished their inaugural season of women's soccer. Fairmont State (8-5-3, 6-4-2) recorded 28 total shots and had six corner kicks on the day.
GSC's first shot came at the 7:01 mark as
Brie Webb's shot was saved by FSU's Isabelle Vaccari. Webb had another shot attempt at the 14:29 but again Vaccari would make the save.
Glenville State's third and final shot of the first half again came from
Brie Webb. Again, goal keeper, Isabelle Vaccari made the save at the 26:06 minute mark to keep the game scoreless.
Fairmont State then got on the board as they took a 1-0 lead at the 27:15 mark when Samantha Buffey scored. FSU then added a goal by Cameryn Ciresi at the 36:05 mark and another right before the half from Louise Welch as the Fighting Falcons took a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Early in the second half, Julia Lekso shot attempt for GSC would be saved by Shawna Graham. FSU added another score at the 52:26 minute mark as Kaitlin Smith scored as the Fighting Falcons led, 4-0.
Glenville State's last shot attempt came at the 64:46 mark from
Brittany Maphis. However, her shot would go wide right as GSC fell on Senior Day, 4-0.
GSC did not attempt a corner kick in the contest.
Brie Webb had three shots attempts for GSC while
Julia Lesko and
Brittany Maphis each had one shot attempt. Goalies
Hannah Beaty finished the day with four saves while
Morgan Smailes came up with six saves.
FSU's Louise Welch had one goal on six shots while Kaitlin Smith had one goal on two shots.
Goalies Isabelle Vaccari had three saves while Shawna Graham and one save.
