Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer softball team split a double-header on Sunday with the Golden Eagles of the University of Charleston.
Game one of the day went to the UC Golden Eagles as they defeated the Lady Pioneers 1-0.
Both teams went scoreless until the Golden Eagles added one run in the sixth to go up 1-0.
Glenville State then went scoreless in the bottom of the sixth and seventh as they dropped the first game of the afternoon.
The Lady Pioneers tallied five hits while the Golden Eagles also finished the contest with five hits.
Paranda Uber went 1-for-2 while
Kim Ellis finished 1-for-3 and
Hannah Wright also went 1-for-3.
Ally Brown pitched the entire contest giving up just one run on five hits while striking out four batters.
Game two went to the Lady Pioneers by a final of 5-4.
Charleston would score first in the top of the first as they took a 1-0 lead. However, GSC then answered back in the bottom of the inning as
Paranda Uber hit a two run homer to left field to give the Lady Pioneers a 2-1 lead.
The Golden Eagles tied it up at 2-2 in the second as they scored one run.
UC then went up 4-2 in the third as they scored two runs on three hits.
Glenville State retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth as
Hannah Wright hit her seventh home run of the year as they went up by one, 5-4. Wright's home run would prove to be the difference as GSC held UC scoreless in the last three innings as they took game two, 5-4.
GSC finished with 10 hits and three errors while UC tallied 11 hits.
Tori Ward earned her seventh win on the mound pitching 5.0 innings while allowing just five hits to go along with two strike outs.
Hannah Wright went 2-for-3 with an RBI while
Paranda Uber went 1-fo-3 with an RBI.
Glenville State (20-28, 8-20) will host Ohio Valley University on Wednesday, April 25 in their last home game of the season. The double-header is set for 3:00 p.m.
