Pioneers Hit the Road This Week, Returns to Conference Play

Glenville, W.Va. - The Glenville State Pioneer men's basketball team returns to Mountain East Conference play tonight, Thursday, January 10th. They travel to Notre Dame College for a 7:30 p.m. clash with the Falcons before hitting the road for a 4:00 p.m. match-up this Saturday with the Urbana University Blue Knights.

The Pioneers sit at 7-5 on the season and are 2-4 in conference play. Glenville State is coming off of a 79-67 win over Cheyney last Sunday.

The Pioneers have four players averaging double figures with Phil Bledsoe leading the way with 16.8 points per contest and 10.6 rebounds per game. Bledsoe is also shooting a team high 41 percent from behind the arc. Davion Johnson is averaging 16.0 points for GSC and 8.7 rebounds per game.

Glenville State leads the MEC in 3-point field goals made averaging 12.58 per game as well as leading the conference in blocked shots with 5.3 per contest.

Notre Dame 8-4 (4-2 MEC) is coming off of a loss to Lake Erie College back on January 5th, 86-78. They are averaging 82.8 points per game while Will Vorhees, their leading scorer, is third in the MEC averaging 23.6 points per game. The Falcons also have three other players averaging over 10+ points per game.

GSC and NDC will tip-off tonight from South Euclid, Ohio at 7:30 p.m.
 
Urbana 3-7 (1-5 MEC) is coming into Saturday's contest after defeating Salem on last Saturday, 88-83. The Blue Knights will take on the Bobcats on Thursday before hosting the Pioneers. Urbana is averaging 83.7 points per game and has five players scoring in double figures with Malik Jacobs leading the way with 16.5 ppg.

Glenville State is 6-4 against Urbana since joining the MEC. Tip-off between the Pioneers and Blue Knights will be this Saturday, January 12th at 4:00 p.m.
