Glenville, W.Va. - After trailing 31-10 late in the fourth quarter, the Pioneers would come storming back scoring 14 unanswered points and even recover an on-side kick. However, it wouldn't be enough as GSC fell on the road at Urbana, 31-24.
This week GSC returns home to Morris Stadium on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they host the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan on Homecoming.
Glenville State (3-3, 2-3 MEC) finished the afternoon last Saturday with 228 yards of total offense on 61 plays while Urbana (4-2, 4-2 MEC) ran 73 plays racking up 361 total yards.
Glenville State had a tough day on third downs as they finished just 1-of-12 while Urbana went 6-of-17. The Pioneers also went just 1-of-4 on fourth downs while the Blue Knights went 3-for-4.
Urbana was perfect in the redzone as they went 4-for-4 while GSC finished the game just 1-for-2.
Mario Pender totted the ball 10 times to lead GSC's ground attack rushing for 42 yards.
Timothy Heltzel went 12-for-25 with 104 yards while
Jaylen McNair went 9-for-12 for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Tight end
Isaac Myers hauled in seven passes for 84 yards while
Austin Ratliff caught five balls for 40 yards and a touchdown. Ratliff also had an 87-yard kickoff returned for a touchdown.
Dominic Cizauskas led the Pioneers defense with 17 total tackles while
Samuel Thomas finished with 10 tackles and a forced fumble.
Jose Gutierrez finished with one tackle and recovered a fumble for a touchdown.
West Virginia Wesleyan (1-5, 1-4 MEC) comes into Saturday's matchup after falling to Frostburg State, 35-13.
Frostburg's defense held WVWC to 239 yards of total offense and holing WVWC to just 35 rush yards.
Jarrett Northrop was 20-of-32 with 234 yards through the air along with a touchdown and an interception, while he was sacked nine times for WVWC. Kenny Lewis Jr. hauled in six catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.
Chris Parker led the way defensively for WVWC with nine tackles (five solo).
The Bobcats hold the series all-time record 34-33-2. However, since joining the MEC the Pioneers are 4-2 against WVWC. GSC also won last season matchup on the road, 36-33.
Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. from Morris Stadium.
