Glenville State Hosts Frostburg State on Senior Day

Glenville, W.Va. – Last Saturday, the Pioneers of Glenville State went on the road, Saturday and upset the No. 6 Falcons of Notre Dame College in OT, 23-20. This week the Pioneers return home to Morris Stadium as they host Frostburg State on Senior Day.
 
Glenville State (6-4, 5-4 MEC) finished with 382 total yards on 61 plays while Notre Dame (9-1, 8-1 MEC) tallied just 276 total yards on 66 plays.
 
The game would go into overtime tied at 17-17. The Falcons would start the overtime with the ball, the Pioneers defense would hold them to a 38-yard field goal by Harding as Notre Dame lead 20-17.
 
The Blue and White's next offensive possession ended the game as McNair found Butler from 25 yards' out, their second touchdown hookup of the game, as the Pioneers defeated the No. 6 Notre Dame Falcons 23-20.
 
GSC rushed for 59 total yards while NDC finished with 191 yards on the ground. The Pioneers defense also forced NDC into two, turnovers.
 
Both teams finished the day 2-for-3 in the red zone.
 
Mario Pender carried the ball 18 times for 45 yards, while Seth Arnold rushed three times for ten yards.
 
Quarterback, Jaylen McNair went 19-for-30 for 266 yards and two scorers. Javon Butler also went 1-for-1 in the air for 57 yards and a TD. Butler, also had 122 yards receiving on seven catches with two touchdowns. Osai Brown caught three balls for 97 yards.
 
Defensively, Dominic Cizauskas had a game high 14 tackles while also having an interception and forced fumble. Wil Mayes finished with 11 total tackles.
 
Jaleel McLaughlin finished with 187 rushing yards on 37 carries for NDC. Quarterback Chris Brimm finished the day 13 of 23 with a touchdown and an interception.
 
Frostburg State (8-2, 7-2 MEC) enters the game after defeating non-conference opponent Kentucky Wesleyan, 35-25. Frostburg State used four second-half touchdowns to eclipse a slow as the Bobcats improved to 8-2 on the year with the win.
 
Brunson finished the afternoon with 179 yards through the air on 14-of-26 completions with two touchdowns. He connected with junior Terrell Brown for 113 yards on six receptions, while Ikwubuo finished with 54 yards on six catches with two scores.
 
Lavat posted 88 of his 145 rushing yards in the second half. He scored Frostburg's first touchdown of the afternoon from 17 yards out for a 7-6 edge with 6:52 to play in the first half.
 
Junior Avery Thurman led both teams with 14 total tackles with one pass breakup. Junior Monte Jones was second on the roster with 13 stops, one tackle for loss and 0.5 sacks.
 
GSC defense has had a great 2019 season. They rank 4th in Defensive TD's, 3rd in Passes Intercepted, and 2nd in Turnovers Gained.
 
This is the first meeting between GSC and Frostburg State. This is also first season for the Bobcats competing at NCAA DII. Kick-off is slated from Morris Stadium at 1 p.m.
