Pioneers Improve to 4-0 with Victory Over WV State

Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State would win a tough fought battle in a 127-115 victory over West Virginia State (3-1), (0-1) as both teams totally 53 fouled in the game. The Pioneers improve to 4-0 on the year, 1-0 in conference as this is the first 4-0 start in 20 years for GSC.
 
Phil Bledsoe had a double-double, scoring 32 total points with 13 rebounds while shooting 7-for-13 from deep before fouling out.
 
WVSU gained an early 6-3 lead but back to back threes from Bledsoe and Tyvon Taylor knotted the game at 6 all. Both teams would trade baskets back and forth as the Pioneers trailed 18-15 with 14:19 left in the first.
 
Scoring ten a piece by Bledsoe, Steven Verplancken and Hagel Augustin would trail 28-23.
 
Bledsoe would shoot his shot form behind the arc to gain their first Pioneer lead of the half as Noah Frampton would add to the Blue and White score with two, three's to lead 39-32 with 7:41 left in the half.
 
Verplancken and Bledsoe would add buckets from deep with a layup by Rodney Ray to push the Pioneer advantage to 11 at 53-42.  
 
Ray added the second Pioneer dunk to drive an 18-point lead at 64-46 with under a minute remaining. Noah Frampton would add back to back threes to send Glenville State into the locker room with a 70-52 lead.
 
At the half, Glenville State shot 51% from the field and 48% from behind the arc with eight steals. West Virginia is 21-for-38 shooting 1-for-11 from deep. Both teams have 24 rebounds.
 
Both teams would come out scoring 12 a piece with buckets by Taylor, Frampton and Verplancken maintaining the Pioneer's double-digit lead at 82-64 with 15:19 left in the second.
 
Glenville State and West Virginia each would run up and down the court as the Yellow Jackets cut their deficit to 96-77.
 
Najee Scott and Ty Robinson added the next four points as Robinson would hit the century mark with at 101-83 with 9:54 left in the game.
 
The Yellow Jackets would go on a 11-6 run to cut their deficit to 15, 107-92 but stopped by Phil Bledsoe with back-to-back baskets from deep.
 
Buckets by Hagel Augustin and Tyvon Taylor end the game in Blue and White victory against WVSU 127-115.
 
Both teams shot 52 percent form the field where the Pioneers shot 43 percent from deep. GSC also had 25 fast break points and 21 seconed chance points. 
 
The Yellow Jackets had 50 rebounds in the game and scored 19 second chance points. WVSU also scored 27 fast break points on the night. 
 
Noah Frampton scored 22 points with four assists shooting 6-for-10 from behind the arc.
 
Steven Verplancken followed Frampton with 19 points, three assist and one steal, with Hagel Augustin scoring 17, with five steals and six assists.
 
The Yellow Jackets were lead by Treohn Watkins and Isaiah Noel who both totaled 21 points each.
 
The Pioneers will be back in action as they travel to University of Charleston, November 26th at 7:30pm to face off against the Golden Eagles.
