Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers will host the Tip-Off Classic Basketball Tournament, November 9
th – 10
th. The Pioneers will bring in the Huskies of Bloomsburg University, Broncos of Fayetteville State and the Golden Eagles of Clarion University.
The tournament will begin as the Pioneers take on the Huskies at 4pm on the 9
th. The Blue and White concluded their preseason with a loss to Davidson College after a great showing. Though falling 102-94,
Phil Bledsoe lead GSC pacing 38 minutes leading a game-high 26 points going 7-15 from deep while pulling down nine rebounds. Bledsoe averaged 24 points in the Blue and White preseason.
Freshman
Steven Verplancken also lead the Pioneers averaging 18 points in the preseason. In his match against the Wildcats he would follow behind Bledsoe challenging 36 minutes with 21 points and dishing six assists.
Bloomsburg comes into the match finishing 15-12 on the year and 11-11 in the PSAC, overall 7
th in the East. Ky Mauras lead the Huskies in points averaging 18.3 a game and 4.4 rebounds as he returns for his senior season.
Fayetteville State will then tip off against Clarion at 6pm on the 9
th. The Broncos ended their season also 7
th in the Southern Division of the CIAA with a 7-20 overall and 5-13 in conference.
Clarion finished 6-20 on the year and 9
th in the Western Division of the PSAC. Khari Williams lead the Golden Eagles averaging 13.6 points a game but does not return to the Clarion bench.
Bloomsburg and Fayetteville will begin the 10
th at 3pm before the Pioneers take on the Golden Eagles at 5pm.
