Lady Pioneers Roll in Road Victory at Shepherd

Box Score Shepherdstown, W.Va. – The No. 20 Glenville State Lady Pioneer basketball team went on the road Wednesday evening and defeated the Rams of Shepherd University by 19, 85-66.

Glenville State (25-2, 20-1) picked up their 16th straight win and their seventh straight victory over the Rams.

The Rams managed to keep it close in the first quarter however the Lady Pioneers took a five point lead after one, 21-16. GSC then managed to make some separation in the second quarter while stretching their lead to 12 points at halftime, 44-32.

Shepherd made a run in the third quarter and pulled within single digits several times. However, GSC still held a slight lead by seven at the end of the third, 59-52.

Glenville State then outscored the Rams 26-14 in the fourth as they picked up the 19 point victory.

Ty Armstrong and Re'Shawna Strone scored 21 points unofficially while Emily Stoller posted 13 points unofficially on the evening.

Courtney Davis finished with six points unofficially and needed just two rebounds to reach 1,000 rebounds in her career which she achieved tonight in the win. Davis, who scored 1,000 points in her career earlier this year, becomes just the second player in GSC history with 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.    

Due to technical difficulties at Shepherd no official statistics are available at the moment.

Glenville State (25-2, 20-1) the No. 1 seed in next week's MEC Tournament will host the West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats in their final home game of the season this Saturday, March 2nd at 2 p.m. Five senior players will play their last game at the Waco Center. This Saturday is also Winter Homecoming.
