Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Pioneer basketball team fell to the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday from the Waco Center by 10, 73-63.
Glenville State (11-17, 6-16) finished the night shooting 42 percent from the floor but went just 5-of-24 from deep for 20 percent. West Virginia Wesleyan (11-17, 8-14) shot 50 percent from the field and 42 percent from deep.
The Pioneers needed the win to make the MEC Tournament but came up just short.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 16 point lead, 21-5, with under 13:00 minutes to play in the first. West Virginia Wesleyan then extended their lead to 19 at the 8:24 mark, 27-8.
GSC made a run before the break and cut it to 11 points at 35-24 however WVWC scored the last six points of the half as they took a 41-24 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Pioneers made several runs but could never cut the Bobcats lead to single digits as GSC ended up falling, 73-63.
The Bobcats scored 17 points off of 11 Pioneer turnovers.
Glenville State was led by Phil Bledsoe as he poured in 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as he posted his 17th double-double of the year. Ty Robinson chipped in with 14 points and six rebounds while Noah Frampton finished with 13 points and four assists.
WVWC was led by Fred Brondsted as he scored a game-high 28 points. Luka Petrovic finished with 11 points and had five assists while Dusan Vicentic chipped in with 10 points.
Glenville State's (11-17, 6-16) season now comes to an end.
