Athens, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team dropped a doubleheader on the road Sunday to the Concord University Mountain Lions.
Concord took an early 1-0 lead in game one in the bottom of the second as Laura Thompson singled up the middle scoring Madi Cupp.
The Lady Pioneers tied it up at 1-1 in the third inning when Jerri Potter homered.
The Mountain Lions then made some separation in the fourth and fifth innings as they scored a total five runs in between the two innings as they took a 6-1 lead over GSC.
Glenville State added two more runs in the top of the seventh as
Tori Ward homered.
Catherine Pelfrey then reached on a fielding error as
Kayla Letart scored but the Lady Pioneers ended up falling on the road, 6-3.
Glenville State tallied eight hits while committing one error. The Mountain Lions finished with nine hits and had two errors.
Paranda Uber went 3-for-3 while Jerri Potter went 1-for-3 with a solo homerun.
Celina Maberto pitched 6.0 innings allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out two batters.
Concord also struck first in game two in the first inning as they led 1-0. The Mountain Lions stretched their lead in the bottom of the third as they scored four runs on three hits to take a 5-0 lead.
Glenville got on the scoreboard in the fourth when
Kelsey Naylor doubled to center field scoring
Karra Smith as they made it, 5-1.
Concord eventually went on and added two more runs as they defeated the Lady Pioneers 7-1 as they swept both games.
Glenville finished with five hits while Concord tallied nine in the contest.
Kelsey Naylor went 1-for-3 with an RBI while
Tori Ward went 1-for-2.
Tori Ward pitched 4.0 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits with two strike outs while
Ally Brown pitched 2.1 innings.
Glenville State (6-16, 1-7) will return to action this Wednesday, March 27
th when they travel to Davis & Elkins for a non-conference doubleheader.Â
