Bobcats Pull Away in Second Half as Pioneers Fall

Buckhannon, W.Va. – Glenville Stat's rival, Bobcats defeat the Pioneers on the road 90-70 in mid-week action. Pioneers fall to 13-12, 10-9 MEC.
 
Phil Bledsoe shot 50% from the floor netting 22 points and nine rebounds in the contest.
 
How It Happened
 
First Half:
 
Wesleyan noted in the books first with an early 2-0 lead but it was not far behind until Phil Bledsoe sunk a three ball.
 
The contest would be knotted at six a piece with Steven Verplancken's three ball as the Bobcats surpassed the Pioneers with back to back triples leading 12-6.
 
The Bobcats would then go on an 8-0 run though would be slowed down with a three ball form Noah Frampton however, Wesleyan would push their lead to double-digits.  
 
Finding their tracks, the Pioneers pulled back within five as Najee Scott and Hegel Augustin both would sink a three balls connecting with Verplancken on the floor.
 
Augustin added a freebie from the stripe as Bledsoe added a layup to keep within two, however Wesleyan slid away on a short 7-2 run.
 
 Steven Verplancken added a layup as Seth Fallon connected with Hegel Augustin for a three ball ending the half trailing 41-34.
 
The Blue and White shot just 34% from the floor and 7-for-21 from behind the arc as the Bobcats shot 45% from the field and 4-for-13 from deep.
 
Second Half:
 
Verplancken put the Pioneers on the board early in the second half with a jumper but the Bobcats continued their first half momentum on a short 602 run.
 
Bledsoe added a layup to the Pioneer score with a freebie at the stripe from Augustin trailing 47-41. Though the Bobcats would complement to their score pushing their advantage back to double-digits.
 
Seth Fallon added a three ball to pull back within single-digits but the Bobcats would not stop as they entered a short 9-4 run to lead 64-50.
 
Bledsoe would then find Verplancken on the court for a three ball also adding layup. Hegel Augustin sunk back to back triples too pull back within five of the Bobcats with 7:31 remaining.
 
The Bobcats controlled the next four minutes on another 10-2 run but slowed down on Verplancken's three ball from Bledsoe.
The Pioneers would fall 90-70
 
Inside The Box Score
 
The Pioneers shot just 35% from the floor and 12-for-41 from behind the arc tallying five blocked shots and 65 on court points.
 
Hegel Augustin net 16 points with nine rebounds and game high four blocks.
 
Steven Verplancken also net 16 points shooting 46% from the floor and four assists.
 
Seth Fallon added eight points added two triples in the night.
 
The Bobcats shot 50% from the floor and 38% from behind the arc scoring 48 points in the paint and 23 fastbreak points.
 
Wesleyan was lead by Dusan Vicentic tallying 27 points and nine rebounds.

The Blue and White will return to the Waco Center February 22nd to face off against D&E at 3pm.
