Winter Haven, FL – The Lady Pioneers will enter MEC action after splitting the final games of the Spring Games Tournament improving to 9-11 on the year.

Catherine Pelfrey went 4-for-6 on the day scoring two RBIs with
Paranda Uber who tallied two hits and three RBIs.
Mackenzie Martinelli,
Karra Smith and
Peyton Werntz each tallied two hits as well.
On the mound for the Lady Pioneers,
Tori Ward earned the win pitching six innings giving up just five hits and no walks and
Celina Maberto gained the loss against Southwest Minnesota State.
How It Happened
Game One: Glenville 3, Southwest Minnesota 14
The Mustangs gained an early 3-0 lead in the third as GSC responded in the bottom half as
Mackenzie Martinelli singled to left scoring off
Paranda Uber's fielder's choice.
In the fourth, Southwest Minnesota tallied another two runs to extend their lead 5-1 as GSC could not respond until fifth.
Jeri Potter hit a double down the left field line to open the fifth and advanced to third off of
Catherine Pelfrey's single to center. Pelfrey then stole second as Uber scored both runners off her single to right.
After the fifth, the Lady Pioneers would not be able to push any further runs in as SMSU added four in the sixth inning, and five runs in the seventh.
Peyton Werntz came into relief in the fourth and
Ashley Fridley closed out the ball game in the seventh.
Game One: Glenville 6, Quincy 3
Early in the second, the Pioneers gained a 2-0 lead as hits from
Kelsey Naylor and
Tori Ward singled and scored off of
Jeri Potter's single down the left field line.
The Blue and White then extended their lead in the third as
Karra Smith got to first on a Hawk's error and advanced to second on Parada Uber's single to center.
Peyton Werntz then hit a double to center scoring Smith to lead 3-0.
Kelsey Naylor's sac fly scored Uber as
Tori Ward's single to right scored pinch runner,
Kayla Letart to end the inning leading 5-0.
Mackenzie Martinelli hit a single up the middle and moved to third off of Ashely Fridley's bunt. In attempt to throw out Martinelli, the Hawks had an errant throw allowing her to score pushing their lead to 6-0.
In the sixth, the Hawks would earn their first three runs of the ball game to reduce their deficit 6-3 but unable to capitalize as GSC would improve to 9-11.

The Pioneers will continue to play on the road as they will begin MEC action, March 14
th against West Virginia State at 1 & 3pm.
