GSC Faces D&E and WVWC in Week 2

Glenville, W.Va. – This week in GSC Hoops, the Pioneers will host the Senators of Davis & Elkins in a mid week clash then travel to West Virginia Wesleyan College to face off against the Bobcats.
 
Glenville State vs. Davis & Elkins – Wednesday January 13, 7:30pm (Waco Center)
Glenville State @ West Virginia Wesleyan – Saturday January 16, 4:00pm (Buckhannon, W.Va.)
 
At this time a no spectator policy will be followed at each of the 12 Mountain East Conference institutions. The league's Board of Directors will evaluate the no spectator policy no earlier than January 19, 2021.
 
Pioneer, Senators and Bobcat Files
 
The Pioneers come off an exciting home opener win against University of Charleston in a nail biter 72-70 victory. Sitting at 2-0 in conference action, the Pioneers lead the Division in Three-Point Field Goals Per Game averaging 13.5from behind the arc and fifth in Assist/Turnover Ratio at 1.80.
 
Davis & Elkins, 1-1 on the season enters the contest after a recent loss to Fairmont State 87-70. In the 2019-20 season, the Senators came out on top in their last two meetings 78-81 and 73-79. D&E sits third in the conference in Rebounding Offense and second in Defensive Rebounds averaging 45.5 and 31.5, respectively.
 
At the end of the week, the Pioneers will then hit the road to compete against the Bobcats, who are 0-2 on the year before playing against Concord in Wednesday's matchup. On Sunday, WVWC lost against Frostburg State 77-81 as the move down to the sixth spot within MEC's South Division. In their previous matchup against Glenville State, West Virginia Wesleyan took a 70-90 victory over the pioneers.
 
Pioneer Highlights
 
Hegel Augustin is the MEC leader and third within NCAA D2 in Three-Point Field Goals Per Game, averaging 5.5. Augustin also leads third in the conference in scoring totaling 53 points on the year and averaging 26.5 per contest.
 
Nick Edwards earned MEC Player of the week after playing significant roles on the court including, scoring the final jumper in the last seconds against University of Charleston. Edwards holds the second seed in Assists Per Game in both the division and conference averaging eight per game.
 
John Williams averages three, 3-Point Field Goals per game to hold the fourth spot in the conference.
 
Coming Up
 
The Blue and White will face off against Wheeling University at home then back on the road to hit West Liberty in week 3 of MEC Basketball.
