Fairmont, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer wrestling team was back in action on Saturday. It was just their second match of the 2021 season at Fairmont State University for an MEC Tri-Match with the Falcons and No. 5 West Liberty Hilltoppers.

Match One – Glenville State vs. Fairmont State

What Happened

The Pioneers would come very close to defeating the Falcons however they would come up just one point short as they fell, 22-21.

Glenville State would take 3-of-the-10 matches.

The match started with the Pioneers, Kevin Meloni and Cam Barr both winning by forfeit.

Jacob Puckett defeated Alex Jablonski 6-2 by decision at 157-pound weight class. Then GSC's Cole Houser defeated David Mundey at 165lbs. by a 5-4 decision.

The Pioneers other win came when Luke Martin won by a 3-1 decision over Cory Hupp-Lasure at 184-pounds.

Match Two- Glenville State vs. No. 5 West Liberty

What Happened

In the second matchup of the day saw the Pioneers take on the No. 5 Hilltoppers of West Liberty.

Kevin Meloni, at 125 lbs., would get GSC off to a great start as he won by pin fall over Cole Laya.

The Pioneers next win came when Alec Fuleider defeated Matt Simpson by a decision, 6-3. GSC's Luke Martin won by forfeit and then later Christian Ramsey also won by forfeit.

The Pioneers ended up falling to the Hilltoppers, 33-21
