Glenville, W.Va. – GSC Hoops return to action after a weeklong pause in basketball operations. The Pioneers have a loaded schedule for week five of conference action:

This week, the Pioneers moved up in the D2SIDA Poll from 24
th to 17
th recording the highest rank in school history as they maintain their 5-0 record.
Prior to their hold, the Pioneers defeated Davis & Elkins College 92-78 at home in the Waco Center earning their first 5-0 hold in over six decades.
The Pioneers lead third in the Division in Scoring Offense averaging 95.4 a game slightly behind West Liberty who leads first with 105.0 ppg. Also leading third in the Division the Pioneers average 12.4 Field Goals Per Game and hold a 1.78 Assist Turn-Over Ratio.
West Liberty enters the contest with two recent losses against Concord University (83-91) and West Virginia State (96-100), losing just 10 conference games within the last ten seasons. However, in the Pioneer's last matchup against the Hilltoppers the Blue and White fell by a large margin at home, 80-111.
Notre Dame College sits 1-4 on the season, recently falling to Frostburg State 70-71 in Week 4. Prior to the Pioneer and Falcon matchup, NDC will face off against West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday February 1.
The contest slated for Saturday February 6 against Alderson Broaddus will be the first matchup against the Battlers in MEC history. Sitting 3-3 on the year, ABU have also been on a paused schedule as well as they have not competed since defeating Concord 75-66.
Pioneer Highlights
Nick Edwards leads second in the nation in steals per game averaging 3.60 per, and second in assists within the MEC with 6.2.
Hegel Augustin leads the conference in multiple areas on the stat sheets including scoring with 23.6ppg, 3.8 3-PT Field Goals per Game, and third in rebounding with 10.2 a night.
John Williams continues to add to the Glenville line up also leading sixth in the Mountain East averaging 20.8 ppg and 11
th in Field Goal Percentage shooting 48.8% from the field.
Coming Up
The Pioneers will travel to Frostburg State and Concord University then return to the Waco Center in week six of MEC Basketball.
