GLENVILLE – Coach
Mike Kellar's Glenville State College Pioneers return home this weekend, hosting the University of Charleston at Morris Stadium. Kickoff is Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
Glenville is coming off a heartbreaking loss at West Liberty, 20-19. In that contest, the Pioneers outgained the Hilltoppers in total yardage 234-205, and received four field goals from kicker
Josh Jones. The Pioneers are 1-3 overall.
Charleston defeated nationally ranked Notre Dame last week, 38-28. They are 3-1 overall.
Glenville's defense has been strong against the run, giving up only 75.0 yards per game. Linebacker
Seth Arnold leads the MEC in tackles, averaging 10.5 per game, and
Brandon Penn leads the league with five interceptions. He snagged three last week against West Liberty, and now leads the nation in that category.
Jonathan St. Jacque has posted a team high five sacks and also leads the league in sacks per game.
Offensively, the GSC running game has picked up the last two weeks.
Alfred Menjor is the team's top runner with 213 yards on 61 carries.
Javon Butler has been the team's top receiver with 25 catches for 349 yards and a touchdown. Jones has now kicked six field goals on the years, and registered 24 kicking points.
