GLENVILLE – This week, one of the oldest rivalries in Division II football will be renewed in the hills of Gilmer County.
Glenville's Pioneers and Fairmont's Falcons face off Saturday at Morris Stadium, in a series that began all the way back in 1909. It is also a trophy game, as the program's annually play in what is known as the "Battle for the Bit."
Glenville enters the game at 2-6 overall, and in the league as well. Fairmont is 3-6 overall and 3-5 in Mountain East play.
Coach
Mike Kellar's GSC offense has been led by
Javon Butler who has caught 40 passes on the season for 710 yards and four touchdowns. He is coming off an eight-catch 238-yard performance last week at State. Running back
Alfred Menjor has rushed for rushed for 664 yards on 146 carries, and tallied six touchdowns.
Defensively, linebacker
Seth Arnold has accumulated a team-high 76 tackles, while safety
Brandon Penn has recorded five interceptions…both athletes are nationally ranked in those categories.
Jonathan St. Jacque has produced a team high 5.5 quarterback sacks.
