Soccer Season Ends With Defeat at League Leading Concord

BECKLEY – Glenville State College closed their 2021 season Sunday afternoon, falling on the road to undefeated and nationally ranked Concord 6-0. The Mountain Lions, who has long clinched the Mountain East Conference regular season title, utilized a strong push early in the second half to seal the victory.

Coach J.R. Dodson's GSC squad, which had won three of their last four contests going into Sunday, held off Concord's potent offensive attack for most of the first half. The Mountain Lions broke through for the first goal of match, going up with a GSC own goal at 33:52. The score would remain 1-0 at the half.

Concord would score a pair of goals in the first four minutes of the second half to gain separation. Courtney Smith scored off an assist from Yasmin Mosby at 47:15, and minutes later, Anna Davis scored off a Smith assist at 49:37. The score remained 3-0 until 67:29 when Mosby registered a goal of her own off an assist from Zoe Belding. The fifth Mountain Lion goal came at 76:50 with Leah Foster going high right off an assist from Nora Voisey. Jordan Edmonds closed the scoring at 86:55 with an unassisted tally.
