Glenville State Head Wrestling Coach is a legend in the annals of West Virginia University Wrestling. The Spencer, West Virginia native was WVU's first Big 12 Champion, taking the title at 165 pounds in 2017.

Friday night, Cottrell returns to the venue where he starred wearing the Blue and Gold…the WVU Coliseum!

Coach Cottrell's Pioneer squad has made a big early season splash, moving up in the MEC Standings, and currently sporting a 10-1 overall mark. Now, his squad will be taking on a strong Power Five team, and seeing competition at the highest collegiate level. Plus, he gets to face his alma mater.

Glenville now has three wrestlers nationally ranked in Division-II;
Jordan Williams 11
th (13-4 at 197),
Gavin Quiocho 13
th (14-3 at 149), and
Cole Houser 14
th (15-2 at 184). Hunter DeLong is also having a stellar season for GSC, posting a 13-3 record at 174.
