Lady Pioneer Basketball Finishes Regular Season with Three Straight Road Games

Glenville, W.Va. – The No. 10 GSC Lady Pioneers will finally return to the court this week after not playing a contest since February 6. However, this week will be a big test for the GSC as their last three regular season games are all on the road.

Glenville State upcoming schedule is; Wednesday (Feb. 24) at the University of Charleston at 5pm, Thursday (Feb. 25) at Frostburg State at 5pm, and Saturday (Feb. 27) at Concord at 2pm.

Pioneers, Golden Eagles, Bobcats, & Mountain Lions Files

Glenville State are still ranked nationally. They sit at No. 14 in the D2SIDA Poll and at No. 17 in the WBCA respectively. Currently the Lady Pioneer are 8-1 overall (8-1 MEC) sit at the two spot in the South Division of the league only behind UC.

The Lady Pioneer lead the country in scoring averaging 102.7 points per game.

No. 7 Charleston comes into the matchup at 13-1 overall. They just suffered their first loss of the season last Saturday falling to Concord 59-54.

UC is led by Brooklyn Pannell scoring 26.6 points per game which leads the league.

Thursday's matchup is with the Bobcats of Frostburg State. The Bobcats sit at 2-11 overall with wins over Davis & Elkins and West Virginia Wesleyan.

Frostburg State is led by Morgan Dombroski as she is averaging 15.3 points.

And the final regular season game will be on Saturday at Concord University. The Mountain Lions come into at 8-5 overall and are coming off of a 59-54 win over UC.

Concord has three players scoring double-figures with Riley Fitzwater leading the way with 19.9 point per game which is fifth overall in the league. Maggie Guynn averages 13.2 points per game while Maddie Ratcliff is averaging 11.5 point per game.

Pioneer Highlights

Glenville State has three players averaging double-figures. Zakiyah Winfield paces the Lady Pioneers with 19.7 points per game. That is good for sixth overall in the league while she is also tied for sixth in the league in assists (3.33). Winfield is also sixth in the MEC in rebounding with 8.1 per contest

Point guard Re'Shawna Stone is second in scoring on the team averaging 18.0 points per contest. That currently ranks her ninth in the MEC and she is tied with Winfield at sixth in assists with 3.33 per game. Stone is shooting 40% from deep and 47% from the floor.

Taychaun Hubbard is third in scoring with 13.7 points per game which is 14th overall in the league.
