Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer Football team is set to return to the gridiron Saturday, March 13 as they host the UNC Pembroke Braves at Morris Stadium with kickoff slated for 12pm.
This is the first time that the Pioneers have taken to the field for a game since November 16, 2019.

Glenville State finished the 2019 season 7-4 overall and 6-4 in league play finishing tied for fifth.
This will also be the second season the Pioneers are under the direction of
Mike Kellar.
The Braves finished the 2019 season 4-7 overall and this is the first year for UNC Pembroke football in the Mountain East Conference.
UNC Pembroke is 2-0 against the Pioneers with those two matchups came back in 2010 and 2011.
Pioneer Highlights
Glenville State is a very young team heading into the 2021 season. Quarterback
Tim Heltzel returns. In 2019, he threw for 1,401 yards with eight touchdowns, with four interceptions and 115.42 passer rating.
Leading rusher,
Seth Arnold also returns he had 56 rushing attempts for 168 yards.
Tight end
Isaac Myers caught 27 passes for 312 yards as season ago.
Defensively,
D'Andre Brown is the team's leading tackler returning with 39 tackles. Defensive back, Dane Lynch also returns as he tallied 37 tackles and two interceptions.
The D-Line has Jose Guiterrez and
Ellis Lilly both returning in 2021.
