Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer basketball team earned a bid into the NCAA DII Women's Basketball Tournament and is the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region. This is the fifth straight appearance for GSC in the NCAA DII Tournament and the 14
th time in school history.

The Lady Pioneers (12-3) is 14-10 all time in the NCAA DII Tournament. Last season, 2019-20 they were set to take on Notre Dame College (Ohio) but COVID-19 hit and the tournament was put on hold.
Glenville State has to Elite Eight appearances in 2002 and 2007. Under Head Coach
Kim Stephens, the Lady Pioneers are 2-3 all-time in the tournament. Glenville State has scored 100 or more points 70 times under Stephens.
Since GSC and NDC didn't play last season, the Lady Pioneers last win in the tournament came back on March, 15, 2019 defeating West Liberty in the first round, 116-92.
Glenville State the No. 2 seed, received a first-round by this year with the new format of the tournament, due to COVID-19 and will take on the winner of the No. 3 seed Kentucky Wesleyan and No. 6 seed Tiffin University on Saturday, March 13 at 8:45pm.
Kentucky Wesleyan (18-5) will take on Tiffin University (16-8). Tiffin earned the GMAC's AQ after winning the Great Midwest women's basketball championship tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The 2021 Division II women's basketball championship will have a reduced bracket size of 48 teams with each regional bracket consisting of six teams.
Pioneer Highlights
Glenville State has three players averaging double figures with
Zakiyah Winfield leading the way with 20.5 points per game. She was also an MEC First Team selection.
Winfield and
Abby Stoller both were named to the MEC All-Tournament Team while Winfield also earned the Heart & Hustle Award.
Glenville State is the highest scoring team in the country averaging 99.4 points per game they also are No. 1 in Offensive Rebounds per Game with 19.7 per contest.
