Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State dropped their spring senior day contest to West Liberty University (2-2) 37-14 ending GSC's COVID-19 season finishing 0-4.
How It Happened
First Quarter:
Zay Huff opened the Pioneers offensive attack eight minutes in scoring a 40-yard touchdown from
Tim Heltzel as GSC led 7-0.
However, the Hilltoppers were quick to respond as WLU tied the game with a short four-yard pass at 7-7.
Heltzel would throw an interception as WLU's Dylan Ashbury returned it 35 yards into the end zone as the Hilltoppers lead 14-7 after one.
Second Quarter:
West Liberty would add two more scores, a 32-yard field goal and a 20-yard touchdown pass from Jack Allison to put the Hilltoppers up 24-7.
GSC then put together a drive however, Jason Mitchell would intercept GSC's
Tim Heltzel giving the ball back to WLU.
On the next play, Dane Lynch forced a Hilltopper fumble as
Isaiah Macklin would recover. However, the fumble recover would not result in any further scoring plays as GSC went into the half trailing 24-7.
Third Quarter:
Five minutes into the third, WLU's Allison would add another touchdown pass, this time to Wisdom Jenkins for 39 yards. Going for the extra point GSC's defense would block their kick holding the Hilltoppers, 30-7.
However, right before the end of the quarter, Anthony Smoot would sneak in a one-yard pass extending their lead 37-7.
Fourth Quarter:
Then with five minutes to spare in the season,
Alfred Menjor rushed 12 yards to add six points to GSC's score.
Avery Book's kick would be good as GSC fell 37-14 and ending the season 0-4.

The West Liberty Hilltoppers outscored the Pioneers is several stat sheet statistics in today's matchup. For Glenville State, the Pioneers totaled 292 yards over 72 plays with 122 rushing yards within 29 carries. However, the Pioneers would win the air battle out-throwing the ball 170 yards to 166.
West Liberty on the other hand tallied 324 offensive yards over 67 plays with 158 yards on 48 plays. Both teams totaled 18 first downs, although the Hilltoppers would maintain possession of the ball for nearly three quarters worth.

JD Guerrero caught three passes totaling 27 yards with Aaron Hoppins also hauling in three passes for 23 yards.

Alfred Menjor totaled 83 yards while scoring GSC's second and final touchdown.
Corbin Pierson went 12-for-24 for 98 yards including an interception.
Tim Heltzel threw the only touchdown pass od the day for 40 yards.
Defensively for the Pioneers, Senior
Jordan Hartman had a game high 13 tackles with ten being unassisted.
Shaun Sterling tallied eight tackles on the day as Dane Lynch forced a WLU fumble while finishing with three tackles and a pass breakup.
West Liberty's Quincy Wimbish netted 95 yards on 23 carries as Jack Allison tallied four touchdowns with 149 yards going 13-for-16 on the day.
Wisdon Jenkins caught three passes for 60 yards and a touchdown with Marquise Johnson and Wimbish each hauling a TD pass.
Defensively for the Hilltoppers, Koty Hudson had eight tackles with David Gilcrest having six on the day.
