How It Happened

Game One:

The Pioneer's took control at the plate in the first.

Ashley Fridley turned it on for GSC with a shot to the left side as Karra Smith thoroughly followed behind with a no doubter over the left side putting Glenville up early 2-0.

The Bobcat's answered with a lone homerun as GSC's defense cleared the next three batters. In the following inning, WVWC drew another run tying the ballgame 2-2.

WVWC drew another three runs as Glenville gave their all to hold the lead as they fell behind 5-2 dropping game one in a well fought battle.

Game Two:

After a scoreless first obtained by Glenville's strong defense, the Pioneer's struck first at the plate, this time taking more control.

After a scoreless first, Mackenzie Martinelli sent the ball to left field swiping a double as Catherine Pelfrey followed behind with a single advancing Martinelli to third. Jessica Williams stepped up to the plate with intention as she sent the ball to right field putting GSC's first run on the board as she sent Mackenzie Martinelli home.

A hit by pitch earned by Martinelli started a fired-up rally for GSC in the bottom of the fourth as WVWC had been held to four scoreless innings.

Pelfrey laid down a perfect bunt advancing Martinelli to second and earning her own spot on first. While Martinelli was out at third on a fielders choice on Jessica Williams hit, Kaylee Drake reached on WVWC's error advancing Jessica Williams to second and Catherine Pelfrey to third.

Katie Richardson delivered at the plate in a crucial time as she lasered the ball to left field bringing Catherine Pelfrey home and advancing Kaylee Drake to second and Jessica Williams to third.

As she was substituted into the batters box Haylee Stevens did her job while singling to center field advancing Katie Richardson to second, Kaylee Drake to third while Jessica Williams tallied another run for GSC.

WVWC's last crack at the bats made for an exciting ball game but was not enough to put out GSC's flame; the Bobcat's went on to score two runs as Glenville State won the contest 3-2.
