The Lady Pioneers Defeat the Falcons of Fairmont State on the Road 89-71

Box Score Fairmont, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Basketball team defeated Fairmont State 89-71 on the road. The Lady Pioneers were able to hold Alyssa DeAngelo to 12 points who was averaging 22.1 points per game. With both teams entering the contest atop of the league standings, with the win GSU was able to create separation in the conference standings. 

In the opening four minutes, both offenses struggled only scoring four points. Fairmont State opened the contest with a layup while the Lady Pioneers would not score until the 7:13 mark. A layup by Aline Fevrier helped snapped Glenville''s early shooting woes. With consecutive threes by Skylar Davidson and Mickayla Perdue, the momentum started to swing in GSU's favor. Closing the opening quarter on a 7-4 run Coach Stephens's squad had the advantage 17-13.

With the Lady Pioneers shooting 55% from the field in the second quarter they were able to grow their lead to 11. Glenville was able to get high-quality looks with Aline Fevrier and Mo Pruitt getting inside the paint. Just in the second quarter Pruitt and Fevrier combined for 12 points. Once again to end the quarter the Lady Pioneers caught fire. In the remaining two minutes Glenville produced an 11-2 run.

Coming out of the half GSU continued to shoot the ball well. However, the Lady Pioneers would catch fire from three shooting 50% in the third quarter. In the first minute of the second half, Mickayla Perdue hit a three sparking Glenville's superb shooting from distance. A 19-2 run towards the end of the quarter gave GSU the advantage 70-37. With 1:30 remaining Fairmont State started to hit shots cutting Glenville's lead down to 27.

The Falcons continued to shoot the ball well in the final quarter of play. Fairmont would shoot 57% from the field which was the highest percentage of the contest. With 4:23 remaining the Lady Pioneers' lead had been slashed in half to 14. Before the final horn rang Glenville hit back-to-back jumpers extending the advantage to 18.

Mo Pruitt led the Lady Pioneers in scoring with 16. Pruit finished the contest with a double-double pairing her 16 points with 11 rebounds. Aline Fevrier would be the second Lady Pioneer with a double double. Fevrier produced 10 points and grabbed a team-high 12 redounds. Breanna Campbell had 14 points for GSU in the winning effort. Campbell would have a game-high seven assists.
