Glenville, W.Va. - GSU Women's Basketball is set to host the Rams of Winston-Salem State University before continuing Mountain East Conference play. A Look at Winston-Salem State

Winston-Salem State enters Saturday's game with a (6-4) overall record and (2-1) in the CIAA. Two of the Ram's four losses this season have been decided by 10 or fewer points. WSSU has a win over Lincoln University who made the NCAA tournament last season.

The Rams are coached by L'Tona Lamonte who enters her sixth season with the program. Lamonte is the 11th head coach in the program's history and has spent time at the Division I level. Before returning to her alma mater, L'Tona was an assistant coach at North Carolina Central University.

As a team, Winston-Salem State is one of the best shooting teams in the CIAA. The Rams are shooting 44% from the field and 36% from three which is third in their conference. Defensively Winston-Salem has forced a conference-high 12.9 steals a contest. The Ram's 12.9 steals per game is also 13th in the nation. While statistically Coach Lamonte's squad is below average in rebounding, they outrebounded teams by 8.9 rebounds per game.

Amaya Tucker leads the Rams in scoring this season with 17.3 points per game. Twice during the 2022-23 season, Tucker has scored 20 or more points. Sophomore Taniah Wilkins has been solid on both ends for Winston-Salem State. Wilkins through ten games is averaging a team-high 7.2 rebounds and scoring 8.6 points per contest. The Spartanburg, S.C. native has produced two double-doubles this season.

A Look at Your Lady Pioneers

Glenville State enters Saturday's contest with a (10-1) overall record and (5-1) in the MEC. With a win, the Lady Pioneers can extend their win streak to eight and finish the month of December without a loss. Coach Stephens's squad has not been in action in 11 days since the win over Chowan University.

As a team, GSU has got it done on both ends of the court with their potent offense and press.
For the past month, the Lady Pioneers have had the #1 scoring offense in the nation. While Glenville shoots 31.1% from three they hit a conference-high 9.9 three a game. Coach Stephen's team has also stopped opponents from catching fire from three holding them to 27%. GSU forced 30.5 turnovers per contest which is first in all of Division II.

Three Lady Pioneers this season are averaging 10 or more points per game. Mickayla Perdue produces a team-high 15.3 points per game. Breanna Campbell and Mo Pruitt are close behind averaging 14.4 points and 10.7 per contest. Both Campbell and Pruitt have been effective rebounders for the Lady Pioneers accounting for 5.5 per game. Campbell is producing a team-high 2.4 offensive rebounds while Pruitt has been solid on the defensive end with 3.2 per contest.
