Pioneers Looking to Bounce Back Against the Falcons of Notre Dame

Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball returns to their home court this Saturday, January 28th for a Mountain East Conference matchup against Notre Dame College. With both teams having five conference losses the Pioneers can create separation in the Mountain East Conference standings from the Falcons. While GSU's winning streak came to an end against Alderson Broaddus, Coach Caldwell's squad is (10-3) since the (2-4) start to the season.

A Look at Your Pioneers

Historically the matchup between the Pioneers and Falcons has been a close one with four of the last six contests being decided by 15 or fewer points. In the last five games, Glenville State has had a slight advantage winning three. GSU has already faced Notre Dame this season. Glenville fell on the road in a close battle 77-73.

In the most recent match against Alderson Broaddus, the Pioneers fell to the Battlers in overtime by two points. GSU took the lead in the overtime by four points but in the end, Glenville's cold spell offensively proved to be the deciding factor. Jordan Turbo Smith led Glenville State producing 26 points and six assists.

A Look at Notre Dame College

Coming off of their win on their home court against the Mountain Lions of Concord University, the Falcons now sit tied for fifth in the MEC. The Falcons are also riding a three-game win streak. While Notre Dame has been impressive at home with a (7-2) record, NDC on the road has struggled posting a (4-4) record in away contests. 

In the Falcon's win over Concord University Jaedon Willis had a game-high 29 points. Willis was able to do most of his damage from the charity stripe going 13-14. DeAirius Barker almost had a triple-double in Notre Dame College's winning effort. Barker finished the contest with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. 

The Notre Dame Falcons currently sit second in the Mountain East Conference for defensive points per game, only allowing an average of 75.8 points. When looking at rebounding, NDC has a strong game coming in second in the conference for defensive rebounding with an average of  28.4 per game.
