WARREN, Ohio – Coach Mike McGarry's Glenville State Women's Golf Team completed Round One of the Mountain East Conference Golf Championships late Monday afternoon, and the Pioneers are sitting tied atop the team leaderboard.
GSU and the University of Charleston played to an identical team scores of 314, gaining separation from the nine-team field. The Championships are again being held in Warren, Ohio at the Avalon Lakes Country Club.
Lexis Fickel leads the way for the Pioneers, firing a sterling even-par round of 72. She leads the entire 41-player field. Fickel was complemented over the first 18 holes by teammate Lizzie Bickar, who is tied for second with five-over 77. The rest of the GSU lineup also finished the day in the Top 15 of the tournament field; Mackenzie Czapla in 11th with an 82, Hailey Hendershott in 13th with an 83, and Kendall Wall in 14th with an 84.
Play resumes tomorrow at Avalon, with Second Round action teeing off Tuesday morning.
