Preview: Football to Make Trip to UNC Pembroke on Saturday for Matchup with the Braves

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Football will make the long trip to Pembroke, N.C. on Saturday to take on UNC Pembroke at 3 p.m. The Pioneers won last year's matchup in Glenville 45-17 on 372 yards of rushing.

UNC PEMBROKE 
The Braves enter (5-3, 4-3 MEC) and are winners of their last two, outscoring their last two opponents (Fairmont State and West Virginia Wesleyan) 105-7. 

Mark Hall is in his first season leading UNCP. Prior to UNC Pembroke, he spent 15 seasons with the Chowan coaching staff, including his last two years there as the HC. In those two seasons, he led the Hawks to a 14-7 record. While at the helm of the program at Chowan in 2022, he led them to a 7-4 record and the program's first CIAA North Division title. 

Colin Johnson had a six-touchdown performance last week at WVWC, earning himself MEC Offensive Player of the Week. The redshirt junior QB has thrown for 1,240 yards and 15 touchdowns to eight interceptions this season. Johnson also leads the rushing attack, accumulating 562 yards on 81 carries and eight touchdowns. Sincere Baines has carried the ball 71 times for 541 yards and six touchdowns as well. Trey Dixon leads the receiving core by a wide margin, bringing in 27 receptions for 602 yards and six touchdown receptions. The next closest Brave has 267 receiving yards and four TD's. 

Sean Hill is atop the tackle leaderboard for UNCP, totaling 68 through eight games of action. He also has 13 TFL's. James Blank has put together an impressive season, recording 41 tackles, 16.5 TFL's and 10.5 sacks. Seven different Braves have brought in an interception this year. 

GLENVILLE STATE 
The Pioneers come in (4-3, 3-3 MEC) and are also winners of their last two games, previously defeating Concord 44-7 last Saturday at Morris Stadium. 

Anthony Garrett enters the new week with 1,442 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season. Alfred Menjor is the leading rusher still, amassing 490 rushing yards on 124 carries and three touchdowns. Zavione Wood had 155 rushing yards and a touchdown last week, boosting his season total to 58 carriers for 256 yards. Saeed Galloway has six touchdowns, which is first on the team on the ground. Orion Bonner's 414 receiving yards and Zion Barnette's five receiving touchdowns leads the Pioneers. 

The defense is led by Seth Arnold's 60 tackles and seven TFL's. After an impressive week against Concord, Jamair Diaz is up to 13 tackles, 5.5 TFL's and three sacks. De Vante Roberson leads the team in interceptions with two and is tied atop the team leaderboard in breakups with three.
