Preview: Pioneers to Honor Seniors on Saturday for Final Game of the Season

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Football will close out the 2023 season on Saturday (Nov. 11) at home against West Virginia Wesleyan for senior day. The Pioneers won last year's matchup in Glenville 27-14.

WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN 
The Bobcats enter (0-9, 0-8 MEC) following a 55-20 loss at home to Fairmont State last week.  

Dwayne Martin is in his third season as Head Coach and ninth overall season with the WVWC Football program. Prior to WVWC, Martin was on the Clarion University staff for 10 seasons. He was also an assistant at Slippery Rock for five years, Wesley College (Delaware) for a season and West Virginia Tech in the late 90s. 

Nathan Payne has thrown for 1,089 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions. On the ground, only two Bobcats have ran for over 100 yards with Kevin Mitchell (206 yards) and Charles Spratley (129 yards). Nathaniel Garnett Jr. (37 catches for 582 yards) and Aamir Almusawwir (35 catches for 420 yards) have been the main receivers. Steven Taylor leads the team in tackles with 50 and TFL's with 6.5. Ely Ghameshlougy is not too far behind with 47 tackles. 

GLENVILLE STATE 
The Pioneers come in (5-4, 4-4 MEC) after defeating Frostburg State on the road 13-10 last week.  

Anthony Garrett is nearing a 2,000-yard passing season as he enters the final week with 1,801 yards and 13 touchdowns. Alfred Menjor needs 51 yards to secure his third-straight 700-yard season as he comes in the final game of the year with 649 yards and five touchdowns on 160 carries. Zavione Wood (258 yards) and Saeed Galloway (207 yards) also have triple-digit rushing yards. Orion Bonner (36 catches for 461 yards) and Zion Barnette (29 catches for 414 yards) lead the Pioneer receiving core. 

Seth Arnold is at 74 tackles to lead the defense as Steve Bradshaw's 49 tackles is the closest Pioneer. Jacob Clark has put together a solid season on the edge, entering the week with 39 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 3.0 sacks and two QB Hurries. Four Pioneers have at least two interceptions and six others have at least one.
