Glenville, W.Va.- Glenville State Men's Basketball is heading south to Athens W. Va. to battle the Mountain Lions of Concord University for the last conference game of the season. With both squads close in the standings, Saturday's game has huge implications for the tournament seedlings. If the Pioneers can pull off the win they will secure a first-round bye in the conference tournament.

A Look at Your Pioneers 
 

In the series recent history, the Pioneers have gone (2-3) on the road against Concord. Looking at the last ten contests between the two squads they have battled. Since the last time that GSU and CU played, Concord has picked up wins in conference play defeating Frostburg State. They took the regular season series against Wheeling University and West Virginia Wesleyan. The Mountain Lions have also faced some of the league's top teams during this stretch.  

 

In their most recent match, the Mountain Lions fell to the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State 85-90. Concord grabbed 40 rebounds, Jevon Laidler grabbing nine and Ayden Ince grabbing seven of those. They shot 62.5% from the free throw line. JJ Harper led Concord in scoring with 19 points. 

 

The Mountain Lions are currently ranked fifth in the Mountain East Conference for their offensive scoring, with an average of 83.9 points per game. CU has racked up 1152 rebounds this season, making their average per game 42.7 and has placed them first in the league. Concord has been one of the best teams in the country at blocking shots. On average CU is producing 4.6 blocks per game which is eighth in the nation.
