GSU Track and Field Wrap up Light Giver Open With Two New School Records

Ashland, Ohio - Glenville State Track and Field wrapped up the Ashland University Light Giver Open with a solid performance. The Pioneers ended the two-day meet with eight personal records and set two new school records.

Men's Highlights 

Bryce Jarrell once again had an excellent showing in the 3,000. Jarrell broke his own school record with a time of 8:52.94.

Sophomore Isiah Valentine also had a good showing for Coach Meyers on the mens side. Valentine set two new personal bests in the 200-meter dash and in the 400. In particular, the Pioneers had success in the 200-meter dash with Bruce Willams producing a season-best with a time of 22.56.

Women's Highlights

Brianna Browning once again got Glenville State off to another superb start in the weight throw. For the second consecutive week, Browning set a new PR this time with a throw of 9.48 meters. Fifth-year senior Tessa Boyd also had success in the weight throw with a new personal record of 13.49 meters. Boyd's through also helped her move up the conference rankings.

In the 800-meter freshman, Janel Mitchell lowered her own school record with a time of 2:29.43. Fellow freshman Hannah Hill also had a solid meet setting a new PR in the 400.

The Pioneers will be back in action February 17th through the 18th at the 2023 Mountain East Conference 2023 Indoor Championships. Fans can view results from the Ashland University Light Giver Open in the link below.
