Glenville State Track and Field Continue to Have Success in 2023 Outdoor Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Glenville State Track and Field ended the three-day 49er Classic hosted by the University of Charlotte. With the Pioneers facing stiff competition, Coach Dan Meyers's had multiple massive personal bests set on both sides. 

Men's Highlights

The Pioneers closed out the second day with a solid showing from Christian Hanna. Hanna threw 47.97 meters to place eight out of a 34-man field. Glenville continued to have success in the field events on the final day. Brandon Bowie set a new personal record in the shot put along with Charlie Bauman.

Blake Jarrell in the Men's 800 finished under the two-minute barrier for the first time in his career with a time of 1:59.25. Blake and his brother Bryce Jarrell produced a good showing in the 1,500 as well. 

Women's Highlights

Koschinya Jefferson produced a strong performance in the Heptathlon. The Junior from Newport News, Va, placed second producing 4,055 points for a new personal best. Samantha Dawson set a new personal record in the 800. Dawson was able to cut off eight seconds finishing with a time of 2:39. 

Janel Mitchell produced two strong performances in the 400 hurdles and in the 800. On day two in the 400 hurdles, Mitchell had a time of 1:07.47 finishing 14th out of a field of 41 athletes. During the final day, the freshman set ran a 2:27 in the 800 placing 34th.

Glenville State Track and Field will be back in action this Saturday, March 25th at Bethany College.
