No.4 Lady Pioneers Hot Shooting From Three Lift them Pass Frostburg

Wheeling, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Basketball team starts off postseason play with a win defeating Frostburg State 103-66. The Lady Pioneers were on fire from beyond the arc hitting 19 threes while shooting 50%.  While Glenville only shot 60% from the free throw line, Coach Stephens's squad did force a fair amount of turnovers. 

Mickayla Perude got the Lady Pioneers' offense going early hitting a three in the first few seconds of the contest. Frostburg State was able to keep up the production early and took the lead early on. Glenville started to pull away halfway through the first quarter. A layup inside the paint by Breanna Campbell sparked a 10-2 run. The Lady Pioneers' dominant stretch helped them take a 14 point before heading into the second quarter. 

In the second quarter, the Lady Pioneers continued to connect on shots from beyond the arc. Glenville throughout the second quarter made six threes while shooting 50%. GSU opened up the quarter on another dominant run. The Lady Pioneers in a span of minutes produced a ten-point swing in their favor. Perdue proceeded to cause problems for the Bobcats. In the second quarter alone the junior had 15 points.

Coming out of the half Glenville continued to stretch its lead. In the first five minutes of the third, the Lady pioneers hit five more threes. Cabria Lewis had the hot hand for Glenville. Lewis during the third quarter shot a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc. Heading into the final quarter of play GSU led 79-44.

The Lady Pioneers continued to shoot the ball at a high level. In the fourth quarter, GSU shot 64.3%from the field. Even though the Freshman of the Year Emilee Weakley had a productive quarter scoring ten points Glenville continued to build upon their advantage. Before the final horn, the Lady Pioneers led 103-66.

Mickayla Perdue led Glenville in scoring tonight with 22 points. Breanna Campbell a native of Largo, Fla. was close behind with 21. Campbell was also able to pick up her third double-double of the season.

The Lady pioneers will play the winner of Fairmont State and West Liberty in the semifinals Saturday at 12:00 PM inside WesBanco Arena.
