GSU Track and Field Finish in Top Ten at Bethany Invitational

BETHANY, W.Va. - Glenville State Track and Field wrapped up the Bethany Invitational with a 6th place finish on the Men's side and the Women's team placed 6th. Both squads had multiple top-five finishes. 

Men's Highlights

Coach Dan Meyers's Men had a superb showing in the Hammer Throw with five Pioneers placing inside the top ten. Christian Hanna led GSU with a second-place finish followed by Joshua Landreth in the fourth, Owen Bell in ninth, and Ian Beller in tenth. In the Discus, the Pioneers would also have multiple finishes inside the top ten. 

Hadden Coon finished the meet with multiple second-place finishes. After qualifying for the finals in the 110-meter Hurdles, the senior with a time of 15.64 placed second. Freshman Marlon Moore also had a good showing finishing in fifth. 

Women's Highlights

Koschinya Jefferson once again had a strong performance. Jefferson placed first in 100-meter Hurdles with a time of 15.49. The Newport News, Va. native also finished first in the 200 running a 25.41. In total, the Lady Pioneers had four first-place finishes at the Bethany Invitational. Freshman Janel Mitchell placed first in the 400-meter Hurdles and Bridgette Knapp with a jump of 1.57 meters won the High Jump.

The Women's side also had solid showings in the field events. In the Shot Put Jasmin Brown placed fifth with a throw of 10.34 meters. Kimberly Halsey in the Pole Vault gave Glenville another top-five finish. 

Glenville State Track and Field will be back in action nest weekend at High Point University.
