Glenville State Track and Field Have Good Showing at Competitive Vertklasse Invite

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Glenville State Track and Field wrapped up the highly competitive Vertklasse Invitational.  The field consisted of student-athletes from every level of collegiate sports. Multiple personal bests were set and two school records were broken.

Men's Highlights

Brothers Bryce and Blake Jarrell once again had solid performances for the Pioneers. In the steeple, Blake set a new season best with a time of 9:55.08 just shy of his personal best. Bryce crushed his old personal best by over 20 seconds in the steeple running a 9:56.72

Freshman Marlon Moore placed 21st in the 110-meter hurdles out of a 43-man field. Moore would also cut his personal best by 0.4 seconds. Brandon Bowie had a good showing for Glenville in the shot put. With a throw of 13.58 meters, Bowie produced the second-best toss of his career. 

Women's Highlights

Koschinya Jefferson continues to have an impressive 2023 season. Jefferson broke the school's record in the 100 and 200-meter dash. The junior ran an 11.97 in the 100 placing second in her section and out of the entire field. With a time of 24.75 in the 200-meter dash  Jefferson etched her name in the GSU record books once more. 

With a short turnaround, Janel Mitchell produced two suburb performances in the 400 and 400-meter hurdles. In the hurdles, Mitchell placed 15th in the field but won her section with a 1:07. 

Glenville State Track and Filed will be back in action Friday, April 5th at Frostburg State University.
