LEXINGTON, Va. - Glenville State Women's Golf wrapped up the Mountain East Conference Spring Championship this afternoon. Heading into the second day the Lady Pioneers were in fourth place. GSU had a tremendous second round cutting 31 strokes to shoot a 305. Glenville's herculean effort jumped them into first place taking the spring title.
Sophomore Kendall Wall led the Lady Pioneers throughout the two-day event. Wall opened the tournament with an 83. In her second round of play, she shot three over eliminating eight strokes from the first day placing third. A total of four Lady Pioneers finished inside the top ten. Elizabeth Bickar would also place inside the top five. Bickar's 76 on day two propelled her to fourth in the individual standings.
Both Hailey Hendershott and Holly Elliot produced a 77 during their second rounds. Hendershott finished just outside the top five and Elliot placed tied for eighth. Sophomore Rebekah Sugalski wrapped up the Lady Pioneers.
With Glenville's performances in the Fall and Spring Mountain East Conference Championships, four Lady Pioneers were selected to All-MEC Team. Hailey Hendershott and Kendall Wall were first-team selections. Elizabeth Bickar and Holly Elliott wrap up GSU's selections by making the second team. Coach Mike McGarry was also named MEC Coach of the Year.
