Glenville State Track and Field Finish Third at Bob Lewis Classic

FROSTBURG, Md. - Glenville State Track Field finished third at the Bob Lewis Classic hosted by Frostburg State University. The Pioneer Men were 19 points away from a second-place finish. On the Women's side, Glenville also finished third behind the hosts and West Virginia Wesleyan. 

Men's Highlights

Coach Dan Meyers's squad wrapped up the meet with two first-place finishes. Christian Hanna with a throw of 46.58 meters in the hammer throw gave GSU their win of the afternoon. In the steeplechase, the Jarrell twins finished inside the top five. Blake placed first with a time of 9:51.48. Bryce running a 9:57.33 produced a third-place finish earning six points for Glenville.

Jordan Holmes in his first collegiate meet had a superb showing. Holmes a native from Inwood, W.Va. competed in the long jump and finished second. Otis Cox was close behind placing third with a jump of 5.90 meters. In the 200-meter dash, Bruce Williams set a new personal record with a time of 22.66.

Women's Highlights

Similarly to the Men's side, Glenville State's Women had two wins on the day. Kochinya Jefferson picked up the first win for GSU in the 100-meter Hurdles. Jefferson also had a good showing in the discus placing second with a throw of 37.36 meters. Freshman Janel Mitchell with a time of 65.99 placed first in the 400-meter hurdles. 

 In the field events, Glenville had multiple solid showings. Sadie Eddins set a new personal best in the triple jump. Junior Kimberly Halsey had multiple top-five finishes placing third in the pole vault and fifth in the high jump. Bridgette Knapp also had a good performance in the high jump. Knapp with a jump of 1.52 meters placed second earring eight points for GSU.
