Glenville State Track and Field End Day Three With Multiple Podium Finishes

FROSTBURG, Md. - The 2023 Mountain East Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship came to an end today. Glenville's Men finished ninth overall while the Women placed sixth. The Pioneers would crown a conference champion today in the 100 and 200-meter dash.

Men's Highlights

Glenville State picked up a total of three more points from the relays this afternoon. The squad of Bruce Williams, Isaiah Valentine, Robert Glover, and Otix Cox was able to defeat Concord University. Glenville with a time of 44.08 placed seventh in the 4x100-meter relay.  In the 4x400 the Pioneers finished eighth with a time of 3:34.47.

Women's Highlights

Koschinya Jefferson was on fire for Glenville State this afternoon.  The Newport News, Va. native started the day off with her second podium of the conference championship placing third In the 100-meter hurdles. In the 100-meter dash, Jefferson became a MEC Champion finishing first with a time of 12.20. Later on, Koschinya had another suburb performance in the 200-meter. With a time of 25.26 Jefferson secured another win and earned her fourth podium appearance of the event.  With an incredible weekend, Koschinya would be named co-Women's Track Athlete of the Year.

Freshman Janel Mitchell continued where she left off from day two. Mitchell in the final of the 400 hurdles cut over two seconds from her qualifying time. With a time of 1:05.58. Janel placed second solidifying the all-conference spot.
