NOTRE DAME FALCONS
The Falcons enter (2-0, 1-0 MEC) following a non-conference win against Ohio Dominican 23-21 and a blowout victory over West Virginia Wesleyan 87-9 last week to open MEC play. NDC earned votes in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) DII Coaches poll.

Garrett Mack is in his second season leading the Falcons after being the Run Game Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator for two seasons with NDC. In year one leading the program, Mack led the Falcons to their fifth nine-win season in the last six seasons and their fifth-consecutive MEC Championship. They also qualified for the NCAA Playoffs for the fourth time in that span. Prior to joining the Notre Dame staff, Mack served as the Linebackers Coach at Oberlin College (2017, 2019) and the Wide Receivers Coach at Baldwin Wallace University (2018). While at Oberlin, he coached three All-NCAC players.

Isaiah Murphy has completed 58% of his passes (22-38) for 349 yards and two touchdowns through the first two games. The redshirt junior is in his first year as the full-time starter after appearing in 10 games last season as a backup. Michael Solomon (133) and Keyshawn Johnson (102) both have 100+ receiving yards so far this season. Johnson, Tyshawn Lighty and Idris Lawrence have gathered a TD reception as well. The rushing attack has been a huge success for NDC in their first two games, flashing three 100+ yard rushers already this season, led by junior Jay Sharp with 152 and three touchdowns. Krys Riley-Richardson has ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns and Keshawn Huguely has accumulated 111 yards and two touchdowns as well. As a team, the Falcons have totaled 10 rushing touchdowns.

Defensively, Nathan Rosario-Santos and Isaiah Stephens are tied atop the tackle leaders on the team with 13 each. Rosario-Santos also has two forced fumbles and a QB hurry. Stephens is tied for the team-lead in TFL as well with two. Jacalyn Morrison is off to a solid start this year, gathering eight tackles and two interceptions which is first on the team. In addition to Morrison's two picks, Antoine Holloway II and Michael Peyton have an interception each in the back end of the defense.

GLENVILLE STATE PIONEERS
The Pioneers come in (1-0), not playing since Aug. 31 at Northwood where they beat the Timberwolves 44-9. This will be Glenville's first MEC contest of 2023.

Anthony Garrett went 19-33 (58%) for 231 yards and two touchdowns against Northwood to open the season. Garrett also earned a touchdown on the ground with eight yards rushing. Orion Bonner was the top target for Garrett, catching eight passes for 93 yards. Terrell Heath Jr. recorded four catches for 60 yards and a touchdown reception and Zion Barnette had the other receiving touchdown while also having 25 receiving yards. Saeed Galloway had 11 rushes for 64 yards to lead the rushing game and Alfred Menjor had the most carries with 19 for 53 yards. Transfer Zavione Wood had seven carries for 20 yards in his GSU debut.

The defense was a big contributor to the 35-point win as Jonathan Brown recorded two defensive touchdowns and Tank Gant had a defensive touchdown as well with a pick-six. Brown's performance earned him MEC Defensive Player of the Week last week. Brogan Brown had six tackles and two-time All-MEC Second Team selection Seth Arnold opened up his senior campaign with five. Brown and Arnold were two of six Pioneers to record a TFL.
