CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Glenville State Wrestling team picked up three top 20 victories this weekend at the NWCA National Duals with two of those wins coming against top five opponents. This was the first time the Pioneers had wrestled since Dec. 16 at the Midwest Classic. 

GSU opened up Friday with a loss to No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney 33-9, falling to the losers bracket to face off with No. 20 Tiffin. The Pioneers got by the Dragons by a score of 21-18, advancing to face off with #15 UMary. The Pioneers would close out day one with a loss to UMarry 25-13, setting up a matchup with #1 West Liberty today. GSU took care of business against #1 West Liberty 24-18 and #5 Lake Erie 24-19 to close out the event 3-2 as a team. 

Individually, two Pioneers finished undefeated at 5-0. Gavin Quiocho recorded five victories with two being against nationally ranked opponents. Gaetano DeLeonardis was the other undefeated Pioneer, picking up a win over a nationally ranked wrestler as well. Brady Ross went 4-1, defeating a strong range of opponents including a returning All-American. Gavin Shamblin was instrumental in all three Pioneer victories, going 3-2 and being the clinching wrestler. Ethan Hardy was 2-3 but picked up a win over the No. 5 wrestler in the country.
