GLENVILLE, W.Va – Glenville State Women's Basketball have two games this week, the first being their conference opener. The Lady Pioneers open conference play against the Pioneers of Point Park on Thursday (Nov. 14) on the road in Pittsburgh Pa. GSU will then have their first home game on Saturday (Nov. 16) against Bluefield State in a non-conference tilt, scheduled for 2 p.m. inside the Waco Center.

THE OPPONENTS
POINT PARK
2024-25 Season
The Pioneers enter this matchup with a (1-2) record, losing to Millersville and East Stroudsburg and defeating Berkeley College in their last outing. PPU went (19-9) in 2023-24, having their season end in the conference semifinals.
Head Coach
Dave Scarborough is in his third season leading the PPU WBB program. Scarborough came to Point Park from the Division I ranks, coaching at Mount St. Mary's as an assistant.
Quick Look at The Pioneers
Ari Bleda is the only double figure scorer thus far, averaging 10 PPG, while PPU has three players averaging 8 PPG with Emma Pavelek averaging 8.3, Alchata Ballo averaging 8.0 and Camille Fultz averaging 8.0 as well. Fatim Sarr Ndow is leading the team on the boards, averaging 7.5 a game and Bleda is chipping in with 7 RPG.
BLUEFIELD STATE
2024-25 Season
The Big Blue come into this meeting with a (2-1) record with wins over Clarion and Mansfield. Their lone loss came against Central State. In 2023-24, BSU went (15-13), making it to the second round of the CIAA Tournament.
Head Coach
Paul Davis is in his fourth season leading the Big Blue. Davis brought coaching experience to Bluefield State, having stops as an assistant at Livingstone, Queens (N.C.) and WInston-Salem State.

BSU is led by two double figure scores, Tianna Rhodes leads the team, averaging 12.7 points a night while Jayla Sample averages 12.0 PPG. Rhodes also leads the team in three-point percentage, shooting 46% from behind the arc. Jasmine Jenkins leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 RPG while Andrea Robertson averages 5.7.

The Lady Pioneers are coming into this week with a (1-1) record, recording a win over Slippery Rock and falling to 11th ranked Gannon.
A Quick Look at The Lady Pioneers
Nwando Okigbo and Tynasia Bunting are leading the way in scoring with 11 PPG and freshman Ashlyn Riley is chipping in 9.5 points per game. Okigbo also leads the team in rebounding with 8.5 while Bunting and Riley are both averaging 5.5 per night. Payton James is leading the Lady Pioneers in three-point percentage, shooting 37 percent from deep while Riley is shooting 33% from three. Defrensively, Okigbo has also been very active, averaging 4 steals per game and Jade Salters is averaging 3.5 steals per game.
